Bodywork 101 -  3 Basic questions most asked, answered.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Bodywork different than massage?

Bodywork is specific use of techniques to effect a certain outcome (Relief from: Tight shoulders, Neck pain, Back tension, TMJ, etc). I use Triggerpoint/Myofascial Release and Cranial Sacral Therapy to address the issue presented by client. I’m not providing a full-body massage session, though since I’m following tension patterns throughout the body, various areas are addressed.

I also work over clothing and do not use lotion or oils.

People most often remark that they can tell the work feels different, they can feel that it’s effective while it’s happening.

I inquire about firmness pressure throughout the session and guide clients to use their breath, especially when tension is easing, the “hurts so good” moments .

As with everything, our bodies hold all our experiences. It’s not uncommon to feel tender emotions on the table, though it’s not a goal. It’s a safe space to process what shows up for you.

How many sessions will I need?

It Depends - on a variety of factors. There are 168 hours in a week - we need to consider what contributed to the tension/pain and how long it’s been happening.

Weekly sessions for a certain length of time are needed to unwind deeper muscle tissue patterns. Hop on a call with me and let’s discuss best options for you. Most people report feeling better with a decrease in Pain and Tension after the first session.

What are your rates?  Do you accept insurance?

The initial session is a 90 minute session (rate/ $375) and includes an Assessment, Body Reading and brief chat about what is occurring in your body and how it feels connected to your life.

I offer a monthly package plan at a reduced rate to support consistency in weekly care.

I cannot accept insurance outright, I am not on any panels. I can provide a SuperBill for you to be reimbursed and I also accept HSA/FSA accounts for billing.

I accept most major credit cards and cash apps.
